Challenge Quilt Competition
Rules
- Challenge Quilt Kits will be offered for sale for $6.00 at the regular September and October 2006 guild meetings, half of the total quantity at each meeting. Only guild members may submit an entry.
- Your finished quilt and a completed entry form are due back to me no later than the regular February 2007 guild meeting. If you are unable to attend that meeting then you must make arrangements to get your quilt to me before then. No late entries will be accepted.
- The quilt must consist of 3 layers,(top, batting and backing). held together with stitching. You do not need to put a “sleeve” on the back.
- The size of your quilt may not exceed a total perimeter of 100 inches.
For example, a 25 inch by 25 inch quilt is okay (25” X 25” = 100”).
A 25” X 30” quilt is too big and would be disqualified. (25” X 30” = 110”). - Your quilt must include at least 8 square inches of each of the three fabrics in the kit. You may add as many as 5 other fabrics of your choice.
- Somewhere on the front of your quilt you must include a heart –in the fabric, the piecing, the quilting, as an appliqué, or as an added embellishment.
Judging
Judging of all Challenge Quilt entries will be at the regular March and April 2007 guild meetings. All guild members may vote at either meeting, but not both. One vote per member. Categories for judging include:
- Best Overall
- Best Quilting
- Best Applique
- Best Piecing
- Best Original Design
- Funniest
- Best Use Of “Quilted Pieces of Our Lives” Theme
All challenge quilts submitted will be displayed at the May 2007 show and winners will receive ribbons!
